The Muskegon

Hoffmaster, Muskegon and Duck Lake State
Parks, Manistee National Forest,
Muskegon State Game Area, and numerous
county, township and city parks feature
campgrounds, picnicking, biking, hiking,
nature watching, hunting, horseback
riding, playgrounds and fields and
courts for just about every sport. Home
to numerous golf courses, Muskegon is a
major contributor to Michigan's
reputation as a national golf
destination. The fun doesn’t set with
the summer sun. An annual accumulation
of more than 100 inches of snow blankets
the Coastline with abundant
opportunities for winter recreation.
Snow mobilers head to the Hart-Montague
and Muskatawa trails, and the 120-mile
West Shore Trail. Figure skaters, hockey
players, hearty anglers and ice boaters
chill out on the frozen lakes. The
Winter Sports Complex at Muskegon State
Park includes a cross-country ski course
and ice rink, both lighted at night,
snowshoe trails and one of only five
luge runs in the United States. Whether
